Tron Marries BitTorrent in a New Project Atlas

Tron (TRX) is an altcoin which at the time of writing, costs around $0.03 USD, according to Coinmarketcap.

Its CEO, Justin Sun has experience in working for Ripple (XRP) and Bittorent. Recently, he announced that the community works on a new project, Atlas, which will connect the strong file-sharing power of BitTorrent to the Tron platform. In an interview with Investopedia, the young developer said that:

We’re aiming to complete one of our key milestones in the fourth quarter: to combine TRON and BitTorrent and create a unique and outstanding product. We will leverage TRON’s blockchain expertise to enhance the decentralized BitTorrent protocol, which has over 100 million monthly active users.

The partnership is still under reviewal but is supposed to be finished in the first quarter of 2019. Project Atlas will substantially upgrade the existing protocol of BitTorrent by adding a blockchain layer and custom tokens.

Using a set of BitTorrent protocol extensions, a custom token, and an in-client token economy to address existing limitations, the company aims to open a new borderless economy, where users can exchange value for computer resources on a global scale.

Users, the young CEO pointed, will be able to download and seed files with their existing profiles. But the optimal goal is a ‘new generation’ of a decentralized file-sharing network where clients can earn or spend tokens.

Justin Sun also explained that Tron will soon exceed the Ethereum because the company struggles to bring faster and cheaper operations, accessibility and better community environment for the developers. The startup launched a Tron Virtual Machine earlier this year to ease the process of creating new applications.

The Chinese Exchange BTCC Opens a Branch in South Korea

BTCC, formerly known as BTC China, is the oldest and biggest cryptocurrency exchange in the country. Founded in 2011, the platform had to relocate to Hong Kong in September last year due to the crypto and ICO unfavorable conditions in China and the new policies the government accepted.

Now, BTCC plans to launch a service in South Korea, the Korean news outlet The Investor reports. The new exchange is expected to go live in November while its beta version starts in October. The Korean office will be headed by Lee Jae-beom, who reportedly told the Korean journal that:

Cryptocurrency exchanges are facing a turning point due to a downturn in local exchanges while global exchanges are making a leap here. BTCC Korea will be able to present a new strategy and vision of crypto exchanges.

The company also announced that it will offer a crypto mining pool, wallet services, and a consumer payment system. That happens five days after BTCC officially shut its production of their own tokens, the BTCC Mint physical bitcoins.

The exchange offers a range of five digital currencies against the American dollar, as seen on the list below. It remains unclear though what would be the trading options in South Korea.

The Korean crypto market is quite dynamic at the moment and BTCC will certainly face a strong competition. Bithumb is one of the biggest crypto exchange on a global scale. Others include Upbit, Coinone, and Korbit, also substantial ones. A leading crypto exchange is Huobi which offers more than a hundred different coins.

What Happened to Bitcoin on Monday, October 15th?

Monday was an exciting day for all crypto lovers out there. We just sat and watched how the price was literally exploding in front of us, in a matter of hours. For 24 hours Bitcoin’s price surged with more than 10% – from the last week’s average about $6,200 to $6,700. It continued to rise and on some crypto exchanges, it reached the incredible level of $7,700. As seen in the price chart, the boom was a significant one, raging the relatively still horizon of the Bitcoin’s price lately.

According to many financial specialists, the spike should be explained with the sudden dropdown of the Tether on the day. Tether (USDT) is a pegged to the American dollar stable coin which surprisingly declined with 7% to $0,93.

Stable coins do not seem so stable anymore,

Was the reaction on social media of crypto observers.

The Tether’s drop provoked a wave of mistrust in the token and an immediate sell-off followed. The market shows that when stable and altcoins fluctuate, traders turn to more acclaimed digital assets, such as the Bitcoin which continues to be world’s number 1 crypto.

There is concern about tether and whether it is truly backed by dollars and rumors about USDT (tether) being delisted from various exchanges,

Charles Hayter, the chief executive of comparison site CryptoCompare, told the news portal CNBC.

The rumor came out after Bitfinex, one of the biggest crypto exchanges, stopped the fiat deposits in U.S. dollars, euros, sterling and Japanese yen. Meanwhile, Binance, also a huge exchange platform, suspended the withdraw of Tether which led to a vast wave of discontent. The next day the transactions were resumed.

We would like to reiterate that although markets have shown temporary fluctuations in price, all USDT in circulation is sufficiently backed by U.S. dollars (USD) and that assets have always exceeded liabilities.

Leonardo Real, Tether’s chief compliance officer, emailed CNBC as an answer to the situation.

However, both cryptocurrencies, the Tether, and the Bitcoin stabilized after the wild Monday. Currently, the BTC is $6,576, according to CoinMarketCap and USDT keeps the line of %0,98.

Speculations now go to the Asian markets and the rumor has it that Asian investors decided to buy a certain number of Bitcoins on Monday and that is why its price surged. If that explanation is true, the Bitcoin – Tether relation is a pure contingency.

Brexit Crypto Update: Coinbase Moves to Dublin

Cryptocurrency exchange giant Coinbase announced today that it expands its international chain with a new office in Dublin, Ireland. The previous European Union hotspot of the company, in London, will stay and function the same way but obviously, it will not be a part of the exchange’s continental network.

Conbaise’s customers increased a lot in 2017, the statement explains, and now the company looks for new locations and new talents to hire. The Dublin office will only compliment the London one and is expected to be a European center for technological innovations and economic developments.

Dublin is a talent hotspot for companies like Coinbase as they scale and internationalize critical businesses operations. We look forward to welcoming Coinbase into the Irish economy and helping them access our talented pool of young professionals from the technology and financial services sectors.

The CEO of IDA Ireland, the country’s inward investment agency, Martin Shanahan said, according to the Coinbase announcement.

Another important figure, Ireland’s Minister for Financial Services and Insurance Michael D’Arcy T.D., also commented the exchange’s step, saying that:

I am delighted that Coinbase is opening an office in Dublin. This decision highlights the competitive offering and attractiveness of Ireland for financial services.

Meanwhile, Reuters’ research on the uncertain Brexit future shows that very few financial positions worldwide are opened by UK-based companies. Most of the existing ones though say they would probably keep their UK headquarters as European centers, even after England leaves the EU.

Bitcoins vs Altcoins: Where to Invest?

bitcoin or altcoin what to trade
bitcoin or altcoin what to trade

Bitcoin stays decisively the world’s most popular cryptocurrency for now. With the tremendous market capitalization of $114,373,286,279, according to CoinMarketCap, and the significant circulating supply of 17,325,225 BTC. Bitcoin is for many the crypto itself, representing all the digital assets at one.

On the other hand, Altcoins gather more and more acclaim in the crypto field. For many traders, small and newly launched coins are the answer to a smart investment decision since they are still cheap and easier to buy and trade. But, Sweet Crypto Jesus, there are already more than two thousand cryptocurrencies out there, how to choose which ones are worth it?

CrispyBull made a small recap of the current crypto situation for you. Our analysis includes several factors which would help to make the right financial decision.

  1. Volatility rate.

First and before anything, you need to think of volatility. It is true for all currencies, not only for cryptos but the latter experience extreme fluctuations in price. If you want to buy a crypto, take a look at its chart – how the price moves, are there vast differences, for what periods of time?

  1. Predictions.

Read some smart people’s opinions about cryptos’ future. Some financial and IT experts say that Bitcoin has issues in its protocol and cannot execute so fast transactions, as the Ethereum for instance. This makes bulls to bet on future Atcoins, which would be more refined, better developed and more secure. Contrarily, the common opinion seems to support the Bitcoin the most – it is the first one to trigger the crypto boom, still most used and famous, and according to many, it is here to stay. All in all, predictions go from one side to the other, saying that soon all Altcoins will die and only Bitcoin will stay, and to the death of the Bitcoin for the other cryptos’ sustainability.

  1. Scarcity.

In economic, the main rule that governs money circulation is demand + supply. There need to be a certain supply, but if a currency is not demanded by society, it is useless. Which means, that an endless supply of a coin would kill the market’s rate of interest and it would become too cheap. Watch out for that with the newly launched tokens.

Conclusion:

Do not keep all your eggs in one basket! Or to put it more sophisticated: diversify your portfolio. The best idea of all is to invest both in Bitcoins and Altcoins, in a certain proportion. Many traders say they like to divide their deposits equally, 50% in Bitcoin and 50% in Altcoins. Others do not like risks and accumulate BTC primarily, as 70% of Bitcoins to 30% of Altcoins. You choose how to arrange your budget but above all, be smart and do a research before putting your money anywhere!
