Breaking: Google Allows Crypto Ads Again

After a big turn over from the cryptocurrencies’ advertisement banners and commercials, Google has finally decided to allow them again. The big shift in the world’s search engine leader comes after a ban announced in March this year. The giant decided to stop unregulated ads due to the market’s saturation with new and possibly harmful crypto exchanges. Google explained its decision with the potential frauds and scams the users could experience and that the company would not want to support the industry.

However, now the biggest search tool took a step back, stating on Tuesday, the 25th of September that will grant U.S. and Japan-based cryptocurrency companies to buy ads on the platform. The decision is effective for this October. The ban was defined by many as quite ‘unjust’ since it stopped all crypto-related banners, both of legitimate and deregulated exchanges. The future is still uncertain, the company’s speakers say because we do not know how the crypto market is going to develop. But it seems a fact that Bitcoin, Ethereum and the major Altcoins gain more and more popularity among the young traders.

We don’t have a crystal ball to know where the future is going to go with cryptocurrencies, but we’ve seen enough consumer harm or potential for consumer harm that it’s an area that we want to approach with extreme caution.

Told Scott Spenser, the Director of Product Management and Sustainable Ads at Google, to CNBC at the time of the original ban.

The search platform does not become open for all cryptocurrency brokers, though. They would have to be certificated and to apply for an approval in each country specifically, according to the local regulations. Also, the ads could be bought and launched only in the States and in Japan. The official announcement says exactly that:

Advertisers will need to be certified with Google for the specific country in which their ads will serve. Advertisers will be able to apply for certification once the policy launches in October.

Google’s declaration follows other digital monster’s openness to crypto-associated ads, i.e. Facebook’s one. In June this year, the social media disclosed a limited tolerance towards the cryptocurrency field, allowing pre-approved crypto exchanges’ advertisement but still keeping the restriction of ICO (Initial Coin Offering) commercials.

Crypto Boost: Coinbase Opens Up to New Coins

The San-Francisco based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is currently one of the biggest in the industry. Today, the company announced in its official blog the new rules of launching digital assets on the platform. By now, Coinbase supported only top-trading coins such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum Classic and Litecoin. From now on, the exchange plans to include not only other Altcoins in its listings but also, to change the rules of their addition.

The novelty comes with the extension of their official cryptocurrency list. It will now include the following:

  • Cardano (ADA)
  • Basic Attention Token (BAT)
  • Stellar Lumens (XLM)
  • Zcash (ZEC)
  • 0x (ZRX)

These 5 new coins are certainly supported by the company and stated as a part of their exchange already. But besides that, Coinbase declares original approach to the dynamics of the crypto market. The firm is directly open to tokens and the interested parties could just apply to be listed on the platform.

The new process begins with a form for issuers to submit assets for listing at Coinbase, which we will evaluate against our digital asset framework. The application form and the digital asset framework will be regularly updated, and our form will indicate the latest version of the framework we are evaluating against.

The framework, underlines the company, will be available in ‘a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction manner’, which means some tokens would be tradable for certain countries, where regulated, and for some – not.

However, the broker does not limit its assets to the application process but states that it keeps the right to add new ones if/ when approved or chosen by the company itself.

At our discretion, we may choose to list some assets on the basis of our own evaluation, even in the absence of an application. In other cases, we will attempt to give quick, specific reasons for the approval or rejection of particular assets.

Initially, the service would be free, and no application fees would be required. But with time, the announcement continues, the exchange might decide to enter fee demands, depending on the volume of received applications and the operational costs of listing digital assets.

However, that is a huge step for the exchange and the crypto traders, since from now on they would have the opportunity to find their favorite tokens easier.

If you feel like you have a coin to apply with, go straightly to listing.coinbase.com and list your new asset.

10 Crypto Slangs You Should Definitely Know If Trading

Cryptocurrency community is a funny one – simultaneously a closed one and open to innovations. But let’s face it, like every other society it has specific language that uses for convenience. If you are new to the crypto world, you might get baffled with the weird words the geeks sometimes use. And now everyone talks about cryptos, it is getting so mainstream that the slang starts to go out of the community and cripples into everyday language. In short, you have to know these.

1. Hodl

Hodle is probably the most popular crypto slang ever. Especially on social media with the hashtag #hodl. Initially, it started as a typo, of course. Someone with the sound nickname of ‘GameKyuubi’ got drunk with whisky, while GF was out in a lesbian bar. It was 2013 and the place – one of the first Bitcoin forums. BTC was worth around $ 600 USD back then. So, the guy was drunk, alright, and started thinking publicly in the forum about the future of the cryptocurrency. Should I sell, or should I buy? Damn it, hodl, brothers.

Now, there are thousands of traders who define themselves as ‘crypto hodlers’. It means they hold their positions no matter what happens. Yes, even if the price goes down.

2. Sats

The term comes from the mysterious inventor of the Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. Originally, it was ‘satoshis’, contracted now to ‘sats’. It is the smallest entity of a single Bitcoin, or 0,00000001 – the least that a transaction can process. Real crypto lovers’ ultimate goal is to stop using ‘normal currencies’, i.e. to stop convert cryptos to fiat money. That is why the stats are getting the right substitute to US Dollars, Euros or any other centralized money. Yes, it is a cash revolution!

3. Moon

When a coin ‘moons’ or is ‘mooning’ it means its price is skyrocketing again. Sometimes crypto fans like to use the word for even a small boost in the price and hurry to announce on Facebook or Twitter that ‘Litecoin is mooning!’. That is right, of course, cryptos are heading to the moon!

4. Whale

Whale are these huge crypto owners that possess thousands of coins. Cryptocurrency is not completely anonymous, though. Addresses and wallets could be watched and transactions are visible for everyone. So, these big crypto buddies must be followed, the traders say, because one of them decides to sell all at once, it could cause a whole cryptocurrency flood. And then, believe me, it could get very interesting.

5. FOMO

An abbreviation of ‘Fear Of Missing Out’. All-time trading anxiety is on here – chasing the right moment, the right price, the right move. It could get so stressed out that some crypto freaks spend tons of hours on the exchange platforms, without knowing what to do. Does not worth it, really. But you would see the #FOMO in blogs and forum for sure.

6. Pump and Dump

The ‘Pump & Dump’ scheme is a curious one. Remember, when I told you how the price in the financial world relies on people’s belief in an asset? Well, this is exactly the case here. A group of let’s say crypto traders decide (usually in a chatroom in Slack or Telegram) to buy all available coins of a currency. They ‘pump’ the market, creating a huge demand for it, i.e. the price goes up. Consequently, they ‘dump’ the token, selling everything and ruin the trade, causing a vast supply. That kind of speculations is seen by serious crypto traders as totally devastating the field and should be certainly avoided.

7. Bagholder

Bagholder is, essentially, someone left with empty hands and no choices out there. It happens when the unfortunate pal strives to sell at a certain price, does not work out because the charts move too fast and at the end, he is left with a coin that he cannot sell on the desired price, nor anyone wants to buy it. It is a real double bind.

8. FUD

FUD stands for ‘Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt’. Kind of pejorative, though. If someone has bad predictions about a coin, the opponent could say “Yeah, man, he is just a FUD”. Close to a coward, yikes.

9. Bull

This one is not specifically crypto related. Instead, it is pertinent to the financial market in general (Forex, futures, equities, indexes, etc.) A bull is someone who predicts the price’s arousal. They say it comes from the way the animal fights – with horns up in the air. Not exactly a positivist, though. It is more like a person who supposedly senses the surges of an asset on a market.

10. Bear

The opposite of the bull. Historically, it is derived probably from bearskin jobbers – people who sold bear skins and speculated the price would go down. Now, the crypto bears are the skeptical ones, these bastards that always disappoint traders with dark and unhappy price foresight. Ah, so annoying when they are right!

J.P. Morgan Adds 76 Banks to its Interbank Information Network

Banks turn more and more towards cryptocurrency. The conversion of fiat money into crypto, the processing of information and all required documents for the transactions keep being an aggravating problem between crypto trading platforms and financial institutions. On one hand, central organizations recognize the issue as an alarming concern in their economic structures. On the other, apparently, they do not wish to miss the ‘blockchain revolution’, as some call it (link to France), and, of course, would be more than happy to make a solid profit out of it. Unfortunately, despite the ongoing crypto positivism around, all transactions still start with fiat currencies, which is to say – we are still quite dependable on the banks.

Here is how J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. decides to jump into the crypto flow and to monetize smartly the global fast-and-better transaction demand. On 16th of October last year, the financial hulk publicly announced its initiative to start using blockchain technology in the banking operations. The project was shared with two major world banks, namely the Royal Bank of Canada and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited, with which J.P. signed a contract for the creation of the first Interbank Information Network (IIN). The initiative was presented as an inter-bank, cross-border system that would allow faster and more secure transactions. The aim was and still is, to reach beneficiaries much quicker, with fewer steps of processing information and fewer documentation requirements. The Network uses the newly launched J.P. Morgan’s token called Quorum™, a permissioned-variant of the Ethereum blockchain, developed specifically for the bank purposes. The open source mechanism provides secure data sharing and makes verification stages easier.

Now, on September 25th J.P Morgan officially declared their will to work deeply with the blockchain technology, as only a year after the introduction of the Quorum token, the bank expands IIN to 76 new banks. The institutions are the biggest financial organizations worldwide and the list includes banks from America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. The full list of institutions could be seen on the bank’s website.

We’ve been actively exploring how emerging technologies such as blockchain, AI, and an enhanced digital experience can be deployed in our Treasury Services business to better serve our clients’ ever-changing needs. […] We will lead the market with the rollout of a robust pipeline of innovations over the coming months, beginning with the launch of IIN.

States Takis Georgakopoulos, Global Head of Treasury Services, according to the official press release. J.P. Morgan obviously shows an ambition to curb the fiat-crypto enterprise.

Emma Loftus, Head of Global Payments and Receivables at J.P. Morgan Treasury Services reveals that the process of signing a contract and finding partnership was not a corporate pain. On the contrary.

We saw tremendous interest among correspondent banks after the pilot launched in 2017, asking if they could join,

Says Mrs. Loftus and adds optimistically that,

We believe IIN will significantly improve the efficiency of cross-border payments, particularly as more banks participate and we evolve the functionality and use cases beyond compliance-related inquiries.

With this expansion, J.P. Morgan becomes a worldwide leader of a bank using a blockchain-based system. The international support the organization found proves that the financial establishment around the Globe is getting friendlier to the cryptocurrency and soon the bank operations would go even smoother.
