Bitcoin Cash Surges as Exchanges Support the Upcoming Fork

Hour Glass Red Sand

If the financial market never sleeps, as they say, that is even more true for the cryptocurrency one.

This Sunday was an exciting day for some major coins. Bitcoin Cash spiked with 20% percent in the light of the upcoming hard fork, whereas Ethereum and Litecoin jumped with more than 3% each. The only top coin that met a slow decrease was Bitcoin, around 0.3% over the last 24 hours. BCH costs around $560 USD, according to CoinMarketCap. Its market capitalization jumped over 7 times for the last two days, the charts show.

Bitcoin Cash’s community has recently announced on GitHub they will fork the coin on 15th of November at 4:40 PM GMT for the block 1542300000. The aim is to reach a consensus between the developing teams. Doing so, they will primarily launch a few chains and consequently, only one of them will operate as the dominant one. At the time of the fork, Bitcoin Cash’s system will be stopped until the consensus is achieved.

Meanwhile, Binance, Coinbase, and Ledger announced they support the hard fork.

Binance’s statement says they would take care of all technical issues but warns traders to keep in mind the fork:

Binance would like to confirm support for the upcoming Bitcoin Cash hard fork. We will take a snapshot of all Bitcoin Cash balances at UNIX time 1542300000, 2018/11/15 4:40:00 PM (UTC). Deposits and withdrawals of Bitcoin Cash will be suspended starting from 2018/11/15 3:00:00 PM (UTC). Please leave sufficient time for deposits to be processed in full prior to this time.

Similarly, Coinbase updated the information on their website saying that they will monitor the fork and will also stop the transactions for a while. They want to make sure the upgrade meets their criteria, the release continues.

Ledger, a French startup focusing on crypto storage, also claims support of the BCH hard fork. The company expresses hope that a consensus will be found quickly because they intend to backup only the dominant chain.

The argument pops up between NChain, a development team led by Craig Wright (who announced some time ago he is the real Satoshi Nakamoto but turned out to be a liar) and Bitcoin ABC, a developing consortium. Wright’s group does not agree with the proposed changes and decided to initiate a fork.

We can only wait and see whose chain will prevail and if the hard fork would bring another bullish rise on the Bitcoin Cash market.

Coinbase Pro Finally Starts Selling BAT Tokens

Coinbase changed its policy towards listing new coins, as CrispyBull reported last month. The giant exchange announced it will accept five new coins, Cardano (ADA), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Stellar Lumens (XLM), Zcash (ZEC), 0x (ZRX). On 2 November, the company stated on their blog that from now on, users can purchase BAT on Coinbase Pro. This does not include Coinbase itself, however, nor residents of the state of New York.

Deposits should be made 12 hours before trading. If there is a sufficient volume of BATs, the statement reads, Coinbase Pro will launch also trading of BAT/ USDC pair. USDC is, CrispyBull informed last week, new stablecoin developed by Coinbase and Circle. It is pegged to the U.S. dollar in 1:1 ratio.

After the announcement, only for a few hours, BAT’s price jumped with about 30%. As seen on the chart, BAT surged for quite a limited time.

This is not the first time BAT increases for a short time. After the new Brave browser was announced, BAT surged again. In fact, the altcoin is moving very promising lately. Even as of today, Monday 5th of November, the token keeps the price of over %3.00 USD and the substantial market capitalization of $314 million. Let us just remind you, that BAT is not exactly a cryptocurrency but a token representing new digital advertisement options. It lets publishers pay quickly online and it is focused on attention-based services.

Exploring the Enigma of Satoshi Nakamoto, The Mind Behind Bitcoin

Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?

The tale of Satoshi Nakamoto, the mastermind behind Bitcoin, is a fascinating narrative that continues to intrigue cryptocurrency enthusiasts and the wider tech community. Despite Bitcoin’s impact monumental impact on the financial world, Satoshi’s identity and motives remain veiled in secrecy. This story delves into the origins, speculations, and enigmatic departure of one of the digital age’s most elusive figures.

Roots in the Cypherpunk Movement

Satoshi Nakamoto’s journey commenced within the cypherpunk movement, a group advocating for cryptography as a tool to attain financial independence from government oversight. The quest for a mode of communication and currency was not entirely novel. Influenced by George Orwells “1984” dystopia and totalitarian regimes invasive surveillance systems there arose a demand for privacy and self-governance. The movement gained momentum in the U.S. during the 1970s, initially concentrating on securing mail systems before transitioning towards digital solutions with the rise of personal computers.

As a member of this movement, Satoshi engaged in dialogues regarding cash systems across various mailing lists exploring predecessors such, as Wei Dai’s b-money and Nick Szabos’s bit gold. These conversations set the stage for the birth of Bitcoin showcasing Satoshi’s involvement in the idea of a decentralized monetary system.

The Birth of Bitcoin

The development of Bitcoin was a journey characterized by creativity and impressive problem-solving skills. Satoshi actively participated in the cypherpunk discussions to tackle the challenges of creating a decentralized currency. Within two years, Satoshi resolved technical challenges, envisioned potential applications and meticulously coded the software. This phase not only highlights Satoshi’s prowess but also reflects a commitment to privacy and decentralization ideals.

Surprisingly, creating Bitcoin did not demand extraordinary expertise in math or cryptography. The foundational technologies and the concept of blockchain already existed, with Git serving as an example. Satoshi’s contribution lay not in inventing these technologies but in integrating them into a decentralized monetary system. This indicates that Satoshi was more of a visionary architect than a technical genius adhering to the principles of the cypherpunk movement.

The Gradual Exit of Satoshi

As Bitcoin gained popularity and the community expanded Satoshi actively participated in discussions sharing knowledge about Bitcoin’s technology. However, as the project grew, so did the challenges—ranging from scalability issues to the complexities of implementing new features like Simplified Payment Verification (SPV). As scrutiny of decisions increased it became clear that more direct project management was necessary.

External influences like WikiLeaks’ interest in Bitcoin and Gavin Andresen’s CIA presentation might have influenced Satoshi’s decision to step back gradually. His shift from forum engagement to communicating via email and eventually silence indicated a disengagement from the project. This phase highlighted the realization that Bitcoin had outgrown its origins as a one-person endeavor prompting a decentralized approach to its development and governance.

Debates, on Satoshi’s True Identity and Intentions

Speculation surrounding Satoshi’s identity has spawned theories linking individuals or groups to the mysterious figure. Despite claims and investigations no concrete evidence has surfaced to unmask Satoshi. This ongoing enigma adds to the allure of Satoshi Nakamoto enhancing the aura surrounding Bitcoin.

One popular belief suggests that Satoshi’s focus on privacy and his gradual disengagement from the Bitcoin project were influenced by an understanding of the legal and financial risks linked to his creation. Opting to stay unidentified and eventually stepping back from the Bitcoin realm could have been a maneuver to shield both the project and its originator from attention and potential consequences.

The Impact of Satoshi Nakamoto

The legacy of Satoshi Nakamoto surpasses the technical details of Bitcoin. By introducing the decentralized digital currency Satoshi challenged traditional concepts of money, sovereignty, and institutional roles in financial dealings. The values of decentralization, privacy, and security ingrained in Bitcoin have sparked a surge of creativity in the domain and beyond, triggering the emergence of cryptocurrencies and blockchain-driven applications.

Satoshi’s choice to maintain anonymity and later detach from the project has left an imprint on the culture and principles upheld by the cryptocurrency community. This decision underscored Bitcoin’s essence, ensuring that no single individual could wield influence over its evolution or trajectory. Consequently, Bitcoin has flourished as an endeavor guided by the ideals set forth by its enigmatic founder.

The tale of Satoshi Nakamoto showcases the strength of creativity, confidentiality, and decentralization. Even though Satoshi’s real identity may forever remain a mystery the influence of their contributions is unquestionable.

Alt-Right Network Gab Plans to Use Blockchain

two bloody hands

The social network Gab, founded in 2016, became famous recently following the case of the Pittsburgh massacre. On Saturday, the accused truck driver Robert Bowers shot 11 people in the Tree of Life synagogue. Reportedly, he was very active on Gab and other social media, promoting racism and far-right ideas.

Two days after the murder, Gab’s website was shut and companies like Stripe, PayPal and Godaddy suspended their support. The social media presents itself like a ‘free speech’ platform. Its CEO, Andrew Torba is famous for his Trump support, extremist’s ideology, racism, anti-refugees’ statements and fondness of people like Bashar Asad. Currently, on the Gab’s homepage a statement is posted, claiming that the startup works with DOJ and FBI on the case, adding that:

We are the most censored, smeared, and no-platformed startup in history, which means we are a threat to the media and to the Silicon Valley Oligarchy.

Gab isn’t going anywhere.

Since Gab did not receive any support from Apple and Google Play Store, it now plans to implement the blockchain technology for an indestructible network. Its founder, Andrew Torba is not a stranger to the crypto world. After he was kicked out from major tech companies on the Silicon Valley, he decided to fund his project through an ICO project and donations. In September, he filed a paperwork to the Security and Exchange Commission planning a crowdfund of $10 million. By now he collected $5.6 million, according to Forbes.

However, following the Bitcoin‘s birthday the Gab case is probably Satoshi Nakamoto’s worst nightmare. It clearly shows how decentralization and lack of authority can open the Pandora box. Gab had around 800,000 users by the time it was shut. And is not alone, other social media FreeZoxee also gains popularity. It is genuinely shocking what happens in these networks: traditional-life affection, where women should quit work and only raise children, misogyny, sexism, racism, extreme fascist ideas of killing minorities’ members or doxing journalists.

Unfortunately, regarding Gab, the blockchain would only support the pro-Nazi, alt-right philosophy.

MetaMask Announced New App for Their Ethereum Wallet

mobile crypto application

MetaMask’s wallet mobile version was announced on the annual Devcon conference yesterday. The co-founder of Ethereum, Joe Lubin posted the news personally on his Twitter account:

Joe Lubin's tweet announcing new crypto wallet app

MataMask is a cryptocurrency wallet developed on the Ethereum platform by the ConsenSys Team. It focuses on safety, claiming to be the most secure ERC20 token wallet. MetaMask develops also add-ons and a system for using distributed Dapps easier.

MetaMask is a bridge that allows you to visit the distributed web of tomorrow in your browser today. It allows you to run Ethereum dApps right in your browser without running a full Ethereum node.

Their homepage reads and adds that they strive for secure identity and effortless blockchain transactions.

MetaMask could be run on Chrome, Firefox, Opera and on the newly launched Brave browser, which recently went live, as CrispyBull reported. It could be used by developers who support the decentralized network.

The new wallet is an important application for crypto traders because it brings the same security as computer programs. In fact, specialists say that smartphones can be even safer because of their Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) which can operate separately than the operating system.

For the last two years, MetaMask ranked as a number one preferred wallet service by Ethereum owners. According to the Google Chrome web store, the extension has been downloaded more than a million times.

On the same conference in Prague, Vitalik Buterin was a keynote speaker. He talked about the release of Ethereum 2.0, a project called Serenity. Recently, the developers decided to delay its release due to technical issues, CrispyBull informed. However, Buterik stated that the date is not so ‘far away’.
