3 Biggest Mistakes in Crypto Trading That Everyone Makes

Cryptocurrency is now a traded instrument like any other currency. The price swings in these instruments can be an opportunity for savvy traders who know how to take advantage of price movements. However, there are pitfalls to avoid when trading cryptocurrency. In order to profit, traders would like to avoid these basic mistakes that can cost them boatloads of money.

1.Do not get greedy

It is an old adage in the marketplace that bulls and bears make money and pigs get slaughtered. No financial instrument can go on an upward trajectory forever, and cryptocurrency is no exception to that rule. If you did not have a selling point when cryptocurrencies reached their highs last year, you would have lost most of your profits when they retraced much of those gains. Whenever you enter into a trade, you should know your exit point and stick with it. Remember that you are a trader and not a mutual fund. Traders seek to profit off of moves, and movement is rarely linear. By leaving some money in it for the next trader, you can lock in profits and start planning your next trade and find your next entry point.

2. Do not get tied to your trade

Not every trade that is made is going to be a winner. Numerous fortunes have been lost by riding losing trades until the pain could no longer be taken or no more money could be lost. While there is something to be said for patience and courage, there is also something to be said for knowing when to cut a loss. Sometimes the best traders are those who have small losses. You should always go into a trade knowing what your pain point is and stick to it. When you get wedded to a position, you tend to get emotional about it and lose the ability to think rationally. Then you end up as an investor as opposed to a trader. Instead of holding a cryptocurrency that has a compelling reason for the trade, you simply end up holding onto hope.

3. Do not buy on weakness

Trading cryptocurrencies is not like shopping in a store. When you shop at a store, the rule of thumb is that the cheaper the price is, the better off you are. That is not necessarily the case when buying a cryptocurrency. You are not looking to buy low, but rather you are looking to purchase a momentum. Sometimes buying on the way down is like catching a falling knife. That never really ends well for the person doing the catching. It is usually better to buy once something has bottomed out and has started to head back in a positive direction. Then there is usually some sort of momentum behind the cryptocurrency. Remember that cryptocurrency will not usually head directly northward after falling. There are usually some bumps in the road before the direction proceeds in a more linear fashion.

Argentina to Launch Up to 30 Bitcoin ATMs

Argentinian crisis has come to an alarming state. The inflation rate hit 40% in September this year and will keep growing, according to the financial data. At the same time, the peso keeps devaluating and loses its worthiness. In that situation, the country turns decisively towards the cryptocurrencies as a possible way to fight the crisis.

At the moment, there are only two Bitcoin ATMs in Argentina, according to the Coin ATM Radar, and both of them in the capital Buenos Aires. The U.S. company Athena, which works on the project, has the ambition to spread the machines across all of South America. Currently, the continent is way under-digitalized with only 0.89% of the worlds’ ATMs.

Another U.S.-based company, the Odyssey Group also announced it will install 150 bitcoin – US dollar machines, Reuters reports. According to many experts, that is a good way for the country to face peso’s high volatility.

Today, the cryptocurrency ATMs in the world are growing exponentially. In Argentina, there were no commercial ATMs and the idea was to be the first to capture the market,

Said to Reuters Dante Galeazzi, Argentina operations manager for Athena Bitcoin. Cryptos are seen as a good way to bring fresh investments to the country and to move its economy. The peso lost more than 50% of its value against the US dollar only for the year of 2018. Galeazzi also ads that:

With currency devaluations, we have seen a spike in bitcoin transactions. We see that as a safeguard to (the peso’s) value, as well as an opportunity to invest in the market.

Argentina now would experience a huge level of austerity, since president Mauricio Macri is negotiating a loan with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). According to BBC, the IMF plans to apply a 36-month saving plan and to credit Argentina with $ 57 million USD. The sum is dealt to be even bigger than the initial negotiations. Argentina is a big budget crisis and its GDP has not been so low since 2014.

The crypto ATMs are not the country’s first attempt to join the blockchain wave. On March, Argentina launched a national cryptocurrency, the Bueno. The coin is a stable one, backed with 10% of Bitcoins. The Bueno’s White paper motivated the need for a stable crypto with the critical banking situation of the country:

In 2018, Argentina remains one of the world’s largely unbanked nations. With over 50% of Argentinians currently unbanked. Security, transparency, and speed of financial transactions between Argentinians are greatly restricted. […] With a lack of infrastructure to accommodate the wider population of Argentina, the nation’s people remain largely unbanked. The economic growth potential of Argentina suffers due to its banking inadequacies.

And the solution might be exactly in the Bueno, according to the developers.

The Buenos coin provides the solution, by enabling the people of Argentina to create their own financial infrastructure with a fair, self-governing, decentralized network.

Bueno is now sold on SouthXchange for 0.00000018 BTC.

Ripple Launches New Fast-Transactions Product xRapid

It was a good year for the start-up company RippleNet. The firm supports the cryptocurrency Ripple XRP and works in the field of the faster transactions since its beginning. The ultimate goal of the crypto company is to ensure quick money transfers between financial institutions and to ease the processes related to them. Ripple represents a global network with contracts in over 40 countries, their homepage says, and on six continents.

Now, RippleNet launched a new tool, directed into the same perspective. It is called xRapid and since the beginning of October, it is already live and ready for commercial use. The product is powered by the cryptocurrency of Ripple XRP and it is supposed to execute cross-border and transparent payment. What exactly is xRapid, the company explains in their press release, published on the site yesterday:

xRapid eliminates the need for a pre-funded nostro account when executing a cross-border payment. It sources liquidity from XRP on exchanges around the world. As a result, cross-border transactions occur in minutes and at a lower cost compared to traditional methods, which take days and incur high foreign exchange fees.

In other words, xRapid would suspend the need for a pre-funded capital in the prior currency for conducting international transfers. Currently, if a customer wishes to do a payment from one currency to another, the bank would have to possess preliminary assets in order to execute the conversion and consequently process the transfer. With xRapid though, the whole procedure would go instantly, or at least for a few minutes, due to the support of the cryptocurrency exchanges, which are traditionally faster than classical payment organizations.

xRapid has already moved into production with ‘multiple clients’, the announcement reads, among which we see the names of MercuryFX, Cuallix, and Catalyst Corporate Federal Credit Union, a currency exchange, a payment system similar to Visa and Mastercard and a cooperative financial institution.

Since the release of the new product, Ripple XRP made a substantial surge to over $ 0.60 USD. At the moment, it is circulating around $ 5.6 USD and it is defined by major exchanged as a ‘strong buy’. Anyhow, the San-Fransisco based company aims primarily to faster and cheaper cross-border transactions and its genuine ambition is to take over the market from SWIFT.

Stellar Launched a Zero-Fee Decentralized Exchange StellarX

Big news for crypto traders and lovers!

Interstellar, the company behind the Stellar coin XLM, stated in June that prepares a new, totally free cryptocurrency exchange. On Friday, 28th of September, Christian, the co-creator of StellarX published an announcement on the Stellar blog with the sounding name of “How StellarX Will Take Over The World”. Yes, quite ambitious, isn’t it?

In fact, StellarX’s goals are not modest at all. The exchange is announced to be the first absolutely free crypto exchange with no fees for both the traders and the coin issuers.

Using StellarX […] costs you nothing. We take no fees and, even above that, we refund all network costs, something no other decentralized exchange can match. All the while, you have sole control over your assets, so whenever there’s interest, it’s yours. We’ve even written our own fee out of our agreements with deposit partners, who, we’ve found, often put in a percentage by default.

The text reads and confirms that there will be absolutely no fees because the company supports idealistic beliefs, instead of purely commercial and capitalistic ones:

We aren’t here for a cut. We’re here to redefine how assets move around the world.

The announcement feels like a manifesto of the new technologies which would totally change the money game.

User-friendly interface, flexibility and a rich choice of currencies, are the other features StellarX is proud to present. The exchange strives to be a top fiat to cryptocurrencies trading platform, offering a variety of both types. StellarX is thought to be an open-source, decentralized marketplace and the website says ‘there could be literally any tokens here’ – the only requirement is to have 10 holders, one bid and one ask.

The exchange wants to make the processes faster as suspending the banks’ participation in the transactions. In StellarX you can directly deposit funds from bank accounts and financial institutions. For now, the exchange already offers many currencies like Euros, Philippine Pesos, Nigerian Naira, Chinese Yuan, Hong Kong Dollar, and the British Pound but the firm states that they wish to move even to forex coins, stocks, bonds, real estate and commodities.

The exchange strives for full transparency for traders and issuers and promises to become the world’s number one universal platform because ‘newer and more interesting types of assets get digitized’. The StellarX creators are sincere that the marketplace is not fully developed yet and assure us in its improvement. At the end of the blog announcement, there is a list of future improvements among which a night mode, a mobile version, fungible path-payment support and a self-serve platform for issuers to submit more token detail. The market maker rewards program is blasted to start as soon as the next month. Very crypto promising, indeed!

Meanwhile, Stellar Lumens XLM keeps the rank of top 6th coin in the cryptocurrency world, according to the Coinmarketcap. Its price holds the range of $ 0.25 to $ 0.26 USD, but bullish predictions say it will catch a momentum very soon. If it breaks the $ 0.27 mark of resistance, a kind of mooning is expected, crypto experts say.

Bitcoin ETF and Everything You Need to Know About It

Bitcoin ETF seems to be a hot topic in the cryptocurrency world lately. And if you into that, you trade, or you are just interested in the future of the digital money, I am sure you wondered what all this fuss is about. An endless subject in the crypto discussions is the level of security and the legal aspects of the digital assets. Do not get this wrong, regulations do not make fiat currencies safer or less risky to trade. They just bring normativization in the process of their trading and introduce the financial tools to the big economical markets. Something which is time to happen to cryptos as well, regarding their broad usage and huge global interest.

The conception

So, let us start with the basics here. ETF is an abbreviation of exchange-traded funds, or in other words, all these mysterious things traded on the stock exchanges like securities, futures, etc. For Bitcoin to receive an ETF means to become tradable on the stock exchanges and simply put, to receive a new status of a legal market entity. The ETFs play as securities of the asset they are based on, in this case, the Bitcoin. But it seems the U.S. regulations are not ready to open the financial market to the crypto funds.

The history

Proposals about Bitcoin ETF are submitted and rejected by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) since 2014. Latest events, that occurred this year include a proposal by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, founders of the cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, which expressed a wish to trade Bitcoin ETFs on the New York Stock Exchange and the Chicago Board Options Exchange. The SEC rejected the proposal in June due to a disagreement with the Winklevoss twins' statement that the Bitcoins markets are “uniquely resistant to manipulation”, CNBC reported earlier in the summer. This was the second Winklevoss proposal but the SEC keeps looking reluctant to make any changes in the existing regulations. The main argument is that the cryptocurrency market is still too vulnerable to frauds and insecure for investors’ funds.

On July 20th Van Eck submitted a letter regarding the concern of the futures of Bitcoin ETFs. It was written by Jan Van Eck, president, and CEO, and Gabor Gurbacs, digital assets strategist.

[…] we believe that our proposed ETF will operate consistent with the rules and requirements of the 1940 Act. Further, by offering investors exposure to bitcoin through a regulated investment product, we believe the proposed ETF will be consistent with the Commission's mission to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation.

The document reads. But the SEC did not agree again.

Furthermore, a new letter was sent to the SEC on 28th of August with quite similar requests to change the legal status of the cryptocurrencies, increase its liquidity rates and make the trading process transparent and regulated. It is written by Malcolm Rose, a cryptocurrency blogger, and vlogger. The conclusion ends emotionally:

Bitcoin is complicated but undeniably important. I encourage the commission to learn as much as they can about it. Remember that cryptocurrencies are a brand-new asset which, if regulated properly, are likely to enrich our country and our markets in the long term. You are in a uniquely powerful position to make a choice that could help to put America at the forefront of one of the most crucial technological developments of the 21st century. I urge each and every one of you to make the right choice: take us into the future, SEC!

The future

Despite all the struggle to introduce a Bitcoin ETF to the financial market, SEC remains definitive about its position for the moment. Official acceptation of the cryptos does not seem to be hidden in the near future.

Despite today's ruling, we look forward to continuing to work with the SEC and remain deeply committed to bringing a regulated bitcoin ETF to market and building the future of money,

Said Cameron Winklevoss in front of CNBC showing ambition to not let go the mission of Bitcoin ETFs.

According to crypto experts, the stabilization and the lower volatility would only help SEC to reach the decision of approving the coin’s ETF. But when exactly could that happen, we can only wait and see.
